Yes. Electronic signatures created through Segal Sign are legally binding under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Electronic Transactions Act (ETA). Each signed document includes a full audit trail with timestamps, IP addresses, and signing history that can serve as evidence of intent to sign. For specific document types (wills, notarized documents, some regulated real estate forms), we recommend consulting with a qualified legal professional.
Yes. All data -- including documents, account information, and audit trails -- is stored on servers located in Canada. We collect only the personal information necessary to provide the service, we do not sell data to third parties, and we operate under Alberta law. No. Signers receive a link by email and can sign on any device -- phone, tablet, or desktop -- without creating an account. Only the person sending documents needs a Segal Sign account.
You won't be charged overage fees. When you reach your plan's monthly limit, you will be notified and can upgrade your plan to continue sending. Your limit resets at the start of each billing cycle. Documents already in progress are not affected.
Segal Sign accepts PDF (.pdf) and Microsoft Word (.docx) files. Word documents are automatically converted to PDF during the upload process. The resulting PDF is used for signing and is included in the completed document package.
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not issue prorated refunds for mid-period changes. Your documents and data remain accessible for 30 days following any account closure.
The Free plan is available forever at no cost and requires no credit card -- that's your no-risk way to try the platform. Paid plan trials may be offered periodically. Check the registration page for any current promotional offers.
